About Laurens Nijssen
My name is Laurens Nijssen, chartered accountant and tax advisor. I founded my company Nijssen & Partners motivated by my wish and desire to support people and companies with international tax and legal issues. I help medium-sized companies with international audits and advise individuals and entrepreneurs who want to emigrate from or to the Netherlands.
Experienced tax specialist and auditor
For many years I have worked as a tax specialist and as an auditor. At KPMG Meijburg and a leading Dutch audit firm, I gained a lot of experience in the field of international tax, especially income tax and corporate income tax. I am a seasoned tax advisor and have audited many international entities as a chartered accountant.
Global Citizen
I spent a large part of my childhood abroad. I was born in Argentina and then lived in Mexico for a few years. Due to my international background, I have two nationalities and speak five languages. I am married to an Italian from the German speaking part of Italy. For my work at a renowned Dutch audit firm, I visited many foreign clients. So I have traveled a lot and hope to continue to do so. There is still so much to discover!
A passion for art
My parents passed on their passion for art to me and my brothers. Our childhood home was full of paintings by Antonio Acosta, a contemporary Mexican painter. Acosta incorporated folkloric and social themes in many of his paintings. He also paints striking still lives of native fruit. Because of his striking use of color and form, you are naturally drawn to his paintings.
Acosta’s work is still hardly known in the Netherlands. That’s why my brother and I set up a foundation to promote his art. The images on this website are photos of his paintings.
Acquiring and applying knowledge
Acquiring knowledge is a basic necessity for me. I have therefore invested heavily in my training. I obtained a master’s degrees in tax law and a master’s degree in Dutch civil law at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Then I completed my master’s and post-master’s degree in accountancy at Nyenrode Business University in Breukelen. Furthermore, I obtained a post-master’s degree in International Tax Law and European Tax Law at Erasmus University.
These three pillars (Dutch civil law, audit and international tax law) form the basis of my company Nijssen & Partners. As a chartered accountant and tax advisor, I apply the knowledge I have acquired and the experience I have built up over the years.

I make optimum use of my network of cooperating partners in various countries to help Nijssen & Partner’s customers in an efficient and effective manner. I am a member of the Dutch Association of Accountants (NBA), Register Tax Advisers (RB), the Dutch Tax Science Association and the International Fiscal Association (IFA). In this way I remain relevant and I keep my professional knowledge up to date.
